All pupils in years 8, 9 and 10 study Home Economics as a compulsory subject. At Key Stage 4 we have 3 areas of study for pupils to choose from. Diet, Lifestyle and Health External written examination 1 hour 30 minutes Students answer all short questions in Section A and three extended writing questions from a choice of 4 in Section B. All ingredients, raw materials and equipment are provided for pupils during practical sessions. Students will learn practical skills for 2 years. The only equipment pupils are required to bring for practical lessons is a named container in order to take home their cookery.

They learn how to plan, prepare, serve, handle and store food safely. Practical Activity Part E: Content Students complete 2 Units. A mentoring partnership has been formed with the chef ecoonomics at the hotel where Year 11 students undertake a work experience programme completing a busy shift in the hotel kitchen.
